Mack Brown's future with Texas could be decided today

On Thursday night, Texas Longhorns head coach Mack Brown had said that “nothing has changed” regarding his status with the team. Those comments come in the midst of reports that Brown will be stepping down at Texas this week, so we will have to see if anything takes place today which looks like the day we could have an announcement coming.

Brown is expected to meet with Texas athletic director Steve Patterson and president Bill Powers on Friday to discuss his future and that could lead to the decision for how to move forward with or without Brown running the show, according to Chip Brown of Orangebloods.com.

If this is the meeting that leads to Brown stepping down or being fired from the program, the floodgates will be opened this weekend for all of the Nick Saban to Texas rumors to return to the headlines and dominate the news cycle.

In the past, Saban has been adamant that he will not be leaving the Alabama Crimson Tide for another job, but he has been strangely mum on the latest rumors that have surfaced on the Internet.

It is certainly going to be an interesting situation to watch over the course of the next few weeks, so prepare for the rumors to come back in full force if a decision is made on Brown today.
