The Oakland Raiders aren’t really going anywhere this year and they also aren’t the only team in the dumps looking to bench a big name player. While the Redskins benched a semi-healthy Robert Griffin III, the Oakland Raiders are considering shutting down running back Darren McFadden by putting him on IR.

According to CSN Bay Area reporter Scott Blair, the Raiders are looking into putting their oft-injured running back who is currently sidelined and ruled out for Week 15.

Obviously the RGIII and McFadden situations are only comparable in that both teams are thinking about shutting down their big name player but the comparisons end there. For starters, the Redskins have already made their decision to bench Griffin III and didn’t technically place him on IR. McFadden is in the final year of his contract with the Raiders and is being placed on IR for being injured — a big reason Oakland won’t be brining him back.

Rashad Jennings is running the ship quite literally now and with word the Raiders are thinking about ending his season early, it’s clear they’ve mentally moved on from him already.
