Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for the upcoming film Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.
Most fans of the Paranormal Activity franchise have come to expect their thrills around Halloween time; however, this year is different. With Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones scheduled for a January release, it left some people scratching their heads. However, I think the scares this time around may just make up for everything.
Many of you who have been following the franchise remember at the end of the last film, we found ourselves inside of a little bodega. It would seem that this is right where we are going to pick up.
In the beginning of the international trailer for the film, we see Jesse and his friends having fun and doing crazy things with their new GoPro camera. We even see Jesse do the classic sled ride down the stairs.
This is when they meet the downstairs neighbor; who is none too pleased with their behavior.
Later that night, they hear horrible noises coming up through the air vent that connects to her apartment. In their infinite wisdom, they decide to drop the GoPro camera down the vent attached to a cord. When they get to the bottom, they see two small, demonic-looking children with their eyes all black.
The next thing they know, the cops are rolling up to the building and removing a dead body from the apartment. Come to find out, it was the neighbor downstairs. So, as any normal person would do, they decide to go investigate for themselves.
When they get into the woman’s house, there are all kinds of items generally used in black magic. They also find pictures of a lot of different people like Kristi and Katie, of whom we remember from the previous Paranormal Activity films; however, things get much more intense when they find a picture of Jesse down there.
This is when the weird things start going down.
All of a sudden, Jesse is having these strange dreams, waking up with bite marks on him, and even discovering that he has these newfound abilities that he knows nothing about.
We will also get to see what happened to Ali Rey, the young girl who was on a school trip when her father and stepmother, Daniel and Kristi Rey were brutally murdered, and her younger brother Hunter was kidnapped by her Aunt Katie. (Or at least a very much possessed version of Katie.)
From what we can see from the two trailers that have been released so far is that The Marked Ones holds up to the previous films in the franchise, and that there are plenty of scares and moments meant for screaming to be had in the new film.
