Sergio Garcia shot a seven-under round of 65 on Friday to pull into a tie with Justin Rose at the 36-hole mark of the Thailand Golf Championship. The highlight of Garcia’s bogey-free round was a hole-in-one he sank on the par-three eighth.
Garcia spoke about his ace to reporters afterwards:
I saw the ball hit right of the green and started rolling.
I was calling it to go in, and thought it’s probably going to end up close … We were saying go in, go in and all of a sudden everybody goes ‘wow’ as I can’t see the hole from the tee box. It was quite nice to see it happen.
There are still two days to go. I’m obviously going to have to keep playing well, like I’ve done the first two days.
Only two strokes behind the leaders Garcia and Rose are Alex Cejka, Anirban Lahiri, and Alexander Levy, all of whom are at nine-under for the tournament.
