Terrance West leads Towson Tigers to FCS semifinals

The Towson Tigers were looking to pull off the upset over the No. 2 seed in the 2013 FCS playoffs, when they took on the Eastern Illinois Panthers and star quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. In order to secure the upset, Towson was going to need to rely heavily on running back Terrance West on the snowy turf and they did just that to earn a 49-39 win.

With the win, Towson will advance to the semifinals where they get the winner of Eastern Washington vs. Jacksonville State. It is the first semifinal appearance in Towson history.

Towson gave the ball to West early and often, as he gashed his way through the Eastern Illinois defense. West finished the game with an incredible 354 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns. The Tigers offense is loaded with senior blockers who paved the way for West, which means he could be tempted to leave Towson for the 2014 NFL Draft once his lineman are all gone.

If West declares as some rumblings state he will, you could very well hear his name called in the middle rounds of the draft.

While tonight was the coming out party for West, he has been consistently having his way with defenses throughout the past two seasons. With his size, vision and patience, he has all of the tools that you look for in an NFL running back.

Do you think West would be worthy of a draft selection? Sound off in the comments section below with your thoughts.

I could see him going in the middle rounds (4th-5th) to a rb needy team. Perhaps the Ravens will take a look at him since he’s a local guy.
