Balls are in the air during second round play of Web.com Q-School in La Quinta, CA. 152 golfers are duking it out at the PGA West Jack Nicklaus Course and the PGA West Stadium Course for “priority ranking used to form tournament fields” on the Web.com Tour.
The Web.com Q-School Finals is comprised of six rounds of competitive golf in its rawest form. The players come from all walks of life. Some are in college, such as California Bear Michael Kim, and will turn professional if they play well enough. Some players are in their forties, and are fighting to make a living. Check out this article by Farrell Evans of ESPN.com about Tim O’Neal, a 41-year-old journeyman. O’Neal shot a one-under par 71 on the Jack Nicklaus Course yesterday and is T-66 right now.
Justin Shin led after round one with an eight-under 64. He is currently tied for second place as he begins his second round on the Stadium Course. Chris Epperson leads at eleven-under total, currently four-under through seven holes of his second round. Michael Kim leads the amateurs in the field at four-under (T-21) as he begins his second round on the Stadium Course.
Other notables are Blayne Barber at five-under (T-15), Jon Curran at four-under (T-21), Colt Knost at four-under (T-21), and Steven Fox at one-under (T-67).
