A night after putting up 29 points, Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green laid quite a dud, only converting three shots in a four point victory over the New York Knicks on Friday.
Green was understandably frustrated with himself after the game, suggesting he ‘played like poop‘ when quizzed by reporters during his postgame interview:
“I played like poop,” Green said of his scoring, drawing howling laughter from Jared Sullinger one locker over.
But even with his game in that messy state, Green knew when it was time for a reversal.
“I feel like I always want the ball late in the game,” he said, drawing a direct line to the final minute.
Sullinger wasn’t the only teammate of Green’s who reportedly found some hilarity in the comment as a few other Celtics had quite the chuckle.
Despite his ‘poop’ play, Green did come up big when it mattered most, blocking a Carmelo Anthony shot in the final moments, preserving the would-be victory for Boston.
Green will attempt to get his play back on tract with the Celtics host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night.
