Could the hero turned villain become a hero again? That’s what Charles Barkley thinks LeBron James should do, recently suggesting that the MVP talent – who left Cleveland for Miami – should return to his former stomping grounds.
The NBA legend sat down with Rachel Nichols recently to go over a handful of NBA topics, one of which touched on James and his Miami Heat.
Never one to miss taking a swipe at a fan base, Barkley suggested the Heat fans aren’t ‘great’ fans’ and that James would be better off playing for the Cavaliers going forward:
“I thought LeBron should have stayed in Cleveland,” Barkley said. “Just ’cause he got them rings now, he ain’t no better. Think about the notion that, just because I didn’t win a sporting event, my life is not successful. That’s gotta be the stupidest thing I ever heard.”
It’s been reported that it’s either Miami or Cleveland for James in the past, though, there’s been no indication yet that James plans to opt out of his contract at season end. If he doesn’t, he’ll have another early termination option come the end of the 2014-15 season as well.
