Mike Francesa, YES Network split after decade-long relationship

If you enjoy listening to Mike Francesa, you’ll need to do so on a new network after it was announced the popular radio host will end his decade long tenure on YES Network this morning:

The 10-year+ simulcast relationship between WFAN’s Mike (Sports Pope) Francesa and the YES Network will be over by the end of January, the Daily News has learned. YES will replace Francesa’s afternoon drive show with ESPN-98.7’s “The Michael Kay Show.”

Francesa’s ‘unique’ personality has become quite the target in recent months (more than ever) though the network says the decision to part ways was strictly economical and has nothing to do with their relationship with Francesa or any recent issues.

Of course, embattled New York Yankees ‘star’ Alex Rodriguez has been making plenty of appearances on Francesa’s show, which has prompted some to suggest he was giving Rodriguez a platform to express himself. Speculation is that didn’t sit well with the Bronx Bombers, who of course own the YES Network.
