The Memphis Grizzlies have struggled this season, currently riding a 10-12 record. That has lead to speculation that the team may trade star power forward Zach Randolph, though the former Michigan State product isn’t ready to move zip codes just yet.
Randolph has been linked to a handful of teams, most recently the New Orleans Hornets, but the bruising forward suggested he’d like to retire in Memphis if given the opportunity:
“Go figure,” Z-Bo said following the Grizzlies shootaround at New Orleans Arena on Friday. “Memphis is a place that I’ve come to love and call home and it’s where I would definitely like to retire. I haven’t made any secret of that. Everybody out there knows how I feel.”
Randolph went on to say that he understands it’s a business and that the Grizzlies need to do what is good for the franchise, but it’s clear he’s not ready to leave Memphis if the choice was left up to him.
Randolph holds a $16.5 million dollar team option for the 2014-15 season.
