Army fires Rich Ellerson after five seasons

According to ESPN.com sources, Army has fired football coach Rich Ellerson after five seasons.

On Saturday, the Black Knights finished their season with a 34-7 loss to Navy. Over his career, Ellerson had a 20-41 record overall, including an 0-5 mark in the annual game against top rival Navy. After last night’s game, Ellerson was clearly dejected at the lack of success this season, but trumpeted the overall progress made in the program during his tenure at West Point.

Army hasn’t won versus Navy since 2001, so it wasn’t as if Ellerson has been alone in the Black Knights’ futility against their most important competition.

There has been no indication at where Army may be looking for their next head coach.
