We see NFL teams routinely go after college football’s best head coaches. It is unusual that it goes the other way around, that a college football team would go after a Super Bowl winning head coach whose team is in first place in the division and have the second best record in their conference.

Apparently, the Texas Longhorns think their head coaching gig is that appealing. According to Jason La Canfora and what he said on CBS, as reported by SB Nation, Texas has New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton on their wish list.

He is currently the NFL’s highest paid head coach. In my opinion it is unlikely that Payton would accept the job if it were offered to him, but it shows potentially how aggressive Texas will be in their coaching search.
