It’s been a year since the horrific Sandy Hook massacre, though not wanting the situation to be overlooked, New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz paid tribute to the victims of the senseless tragedy on Sunday.

Cruz, who has formed a strong bond with the Pinto family over the past year wore a special message on his cleats today, writing ‘Jack Pinto’ on one cleat, ‘Never Forget’ on the other. On the back of the cleats, the inscription read ‘My Hero’.

The veteran wideout posted a picture of his special shoes on Instagram prior to New York’s game against the Seattle Seahawks:

Cruz was the favorite player of six-year-old Jack Pinto and the Giants’ wideout has stayed inn touch with the Pinto family since the tragedy, which included joining the team on a bus trip to Newton, Connecticut to play games with kids in the community.

A true class act by Cruz, though, that’s to be expected given what we know of the Pro Bowl talent.

Our thoughts are with those affected by the tragedy.
