The new AP Top 25 Poll is out, and the top seven teams remain unchanged.  The top ten teams are Arizona, Syracuse, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Louisville, Oklahoma State, Villanova and Duke (tied), and UConn.

I have no idea why Duke is tied with Villanova, a 10-0 team that has beaten No. 18 Kansas (Duke lost to Kansas) and No. 25 Iowa.   Why is Duke getting credit for being a great team?

UConn (9-0) is another undefeated team that should be ahead of Duke.  I guess the AP is waiting for UConn to win more games, and beat more ranked opponents. Oh wait, Duke has only beaten one ranked opponent (Michigan) that is not ranked anymore.  I don’t understand.

No. 18 Kansas (7-3) and No. 19 Kentucky (8-3) are holding on by a string.  Both teams have three loses against ranked opponents.

The back end of the poll is very strong with No. 21 Gonzaga (10-1), No. 22 UMass (9-0), No. 23 Missouri (10-0), and No. 24 San Diego State (7-1).  San Diego State’s lone loss was against No. 1 Arizona.  UMass and Missouri deserve respect because they continue to take care of business, and Gonzaga has one loss against a hot Dayton team in Hawaii.
