The Owls of Florida Atlantic University have a new head coach and will be introducing him on Tuesday as reported by Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports. Charlie Petridge was the man picked for the job after serving as defensive line coach and assistant head coach for the Arkansas Razorbacks this past season. Petridge worked with Bret Bielema for five years at Wisconsin. He also has experience working with special teams as well as being a linebackers coach.
This hire happens in the wake of the still ongoing process with Carl Pelini. The former Owls coach resigned when presented with evidence that he was seen using illegal drugs. Pelini has since said he was forced to resign and has since been suing the school to get his job back. That process is still ongoing and is currently in a Florida court.
On the field, Petridge takes over a 6-6 team with a 4-4 record within Conference USA. In addition to Arkansas and Wisconsin, Petridge coached at schools including Pittsburgh, Eastern Illinois and Iowa State. At Eastern Illinois, he worked as the recruiting coordinator in addition to coaching their defensive linemen.
