NBA Trade Rumors: Chicago Bulls targeting Dion Waiters in trade with Cleveland Cavaliers?
By Josh Hill
The Chicago Bulls have unsurprisingly struggled without Derrick Rose in the lineup but while the team’s MVP is worried about his team choosing rebuilding over a championship, he may have to wait before he judges fully. According to NBA insider Jared Zwerling, the Bulls are potentially targeting Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Dion Waiters.
That’s not a definitive answer on the question of how “in” the Bulls really are on trading for Waiters, but it’s something that makes sense. When he was coming out of Syracuse, there was some talk of the Bulls possibly moving up in the draft to take him but they stood pat and drafted Marquis Teague instead. Adding Waiters to the backcourt with Rose when he returns could give the Bulls the shooting compliment they’ve coveted for years.
Adding Waiters to Philadelphia would also be interesting as he’d be flying beside Michael Carter-Williams. It would go against the tanking idea but could help set the Sixers up with a young and talented roster in the future.
The talks may not be serious but if the Bulls could land Waiters, they could possibly have an answer to their second scoring option need they’ve had to pair with Rose and that’d be huge.
