On draft night, the Philadelphia 76ers traded all-star point guard Jrue Holiday to the New Orleans Pelicans for the rights to the sixth overall pick in the draft, Kentucky Wildcats‘ big man Nerlens Noel. Earlier in the college basketball season, Noel looked like a sure fire bet to be the top pick in the 2013 draft. Unfortunately for Noel, he tore his ACL in February, which explains his fall in the draft.
On Tuesday, Noel appeared on SiriusXM NBA Radio and was asked about a return.
“There’s a possibility,” Noel said.
The 76ers are in no rush to win now, especially with their other lottery pick, point guard Michael Carter Williams, now suffering from a knee problem of his own.
“We’re just taking our time with it, being cautious with things,” Noel explained. “I’m definitely worried about my health, but regards to the whole season, that decision hasn’t been made up. I still have to meet up with my doctors — Dr. [James] Andrews and Dr. Kevin Wilk — and come to a conclusion with that.”
