There were already plenty of questions about the job security of New York Knicks head coach Mike Woodson, and last night’s setback against the Washington Wizards only intensified the hot seat. However, while the fans and the media are scrutinizing Woodson for his team’s poor start to this season, but at least one player has his coach’s back.
As far as Carmelo Anthony is concerned, Woodson’s job is safe and he has no reason to believe otherwise.
“As far as I’m concerned, he’s secure right now. I haven’t heard anything,” Anthony said Monday night, via Ian Begley of ESPNNewYork.com. “There’s nothing to discuss. He’s our coach, and we’re rolling with him.”
Of course, that could all change if the Knicks continue to struggle on the court.
New York entered the season considered one of the favorites in the Eastern Conference, but they are currently at the bottom of the Atlantic Division with a mere 7-17 record.
Something is going to have to turn around quickly, if Woodson wants to remain coach throughout the season.
