On Tuesday, a new report surfaced that Cleveland Cavaliers’ guard Dion Waiters was seeking a trade. Both the Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers are apparently interested in trading for the fourth overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft and Waiters reportedly wants to be dealt to the 76ers.
According to the Associated Press, who spoke with Waiters before the Cavaliers hosted the Portland Trail Blazers Tuesday night, Waiters is not asking for a trade and is happy in Cleveland.
Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters, the subject of trade rumors for several weeks, denied an Internet report he has asked the team to deal him.
Waiters said before Tuesday night’s game with Portland that he’s happy and comfortable in Cleveland and was surprised at the latest rumors.
The trade talk involving the second-year guard began last month when reports surfaced Waiters was involved in a confrontation with teammates following a 29-point loss in Minnesota.
Waiters is averaging 14.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game this season.
Waiters was listed as a game decision Tuesday after he banged knee with Tyler Zeller in practice. Waiters checked into the game in the first quarter.
