Poised to lose seven senior defensive starters next season, the Baylor Bears beefed up their defense by landing JUCO transfer Chris Sanders this week.
Sanders, who played at Eastern Arizona Community College this past year, started off his college career as a member of the Georgia Bulldogs. Sanders, an all-state player in high school, played in three games for the Bulldogs as a true freshman in 2011. He was kicked off the team in February 2012 for a violation of team rules and then landed at Georgia Military College (where he was again dismissed).
Sanders spoke about his new opportunity with Rivals.com:
I’ve learned a whole lot. I’ve matured as a man and got my life back right. Going to Baylor, being a part of that ‘Baylor Gang’, I know I can get my life where it’s supposed to be at. It’s a great program on and off the field. With my past troubles, I’m not going to lie, that was the reason for me going to Arizona (Rivals via NBC’s College Football Talk).
In related Baylor news, the Bears also landed two other JUCO defensive players this week: linebacker Grant Campbell and cornerback Tion Wright.
