Missouri State at Louisville: game preview

The Missouri State Bears take on the No. 6 Louisville Cardinals at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky.  The game will be aired live on ESPN 2 at 9 pm ET.

Louisville is 9-1, with its lone loss against giant-killer North Carolina.  The Cardinals are led by senior guard Russ Smith, who is averaging 17.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game.  Junior guard Chris Jones is averaging 14.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per contest.  Sophomore forward Montrezl Harrell is the inside presence averaging 12.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Junior Forward Chane Behanan complements Harrell in the post averaging 8.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Missouri State has shown a propensity to win games at 8-1.  The Bears are led by senior forward Jarmar Gulley, who is averaging 13.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.  Sophomore guard Marcus Marshall is the second-leading scorer averaging 13.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

Missouri State will attempt to slow down the game in order to keep Louisville’s guards from controlling the tempo, and having their way on offense.  This task will not be easy because Russ Smith and Chris Jones form one of the best backcourts in the country.
