New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton promised to evaluate his team after an embarrassing loss to the St. Louis Rams. Two people perceived to be on the chopping block was kicker Garrett Hartley and left tackle Charles Brown.

“I think we are looking closely at every element,” Payton said, via the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “I told the team in the team meeting we are looking closely at each aspect of this team. I just think it’s important for us to do that, whether it’s a tackle position or whether it’s a player on defense. The one thing I know I don’t want to do is repeat the process over and over again.”

On Tuesday, Payton and the Saints waived Hartley.

Hartley has been with the Saints for six seasons including their Super Bowl winning season. Hartley kicked the field goal that sent the Saints to the Super Bowl. In his career Hartley is 82-101 kicking field goals.

There is no word who his replacement will be, but the Saints worked out five kickers in November. The next kicker is likely one of them.
