The Rockets will most likely move Omer Asik in the next 24 hours, and we have three potential teams who could be involved. The Hawks are rumored to be involved, but they are high on Paul Millsap, so don’t expect anything there. Then there’s the Sixers and Thad Young, and that is probably the safe bet. The Cleveland Cavaliers have Anderson Varejao, and he has been rumored to be involved in Asik deals as well.

Don’t bet on the Cavaliers making a move.

Cavs’ coach Mike Brown told the media that you can leave them out of the sweepstakes, via the Akron Beacon Journal:

"“It’s funny to hear people report that Anderson Varejao is getting traded for Omer Asik,” Brown said while butchering the pronunciation of Asik’s last name. “If I can’t pronounce his name, you know it ain’t going to happen. It’s mind-boggling.”"

It wouldn’t make much sense for them to make a deal of Asik. They have a competent player in Varejao, and Andrew Bynum;s minutes are on the rise. As for them making a trade overall? The Cavs could still make a move soon:

"The Cavs have no interest in Asik, but they could still get involved if it turns into a three-team deal, which ESPN has reported multiple times it could."

Asik’s value is dropping, and so is the list of potential trade partners. It looks like Asik could be a Sixer in the near future.
