Tomas Jurco scores first career NHL goal (Video)

Tomas Jurco was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings because of his ability to handle the puck. He was a YouTube sensation before he even heard his name called in the second round of the 2011 draft, and for a good reason. Jurco can do some ridiculous things with the biscuit, and he displayed his slick mitts on his first NHL goal.

Goals like that are pretty much what Detroit envisioned for Jurco when they picked him. After debuting as a professional in the AHL in 2012-13, the Slovakian has really had a breakout campaign this year. He posted 28 points in 74 contests last season, but really picked up the pace for the Grand Rapids Griffins with 27 points in 26 games this year.

Ansar Khan of MLive.com spoke to Jurco about his first NHL goal following the game:

I get great pass from (Drew Miller) and somehow I find myself alone in front of the goalie and made a little move and put it between his legs, five-hole, and it went in. So it was a great moment for me. It’s a great feeling. It’s something that I’ve been dreaming about; first, to play in a NHL game and second thing is to score. So my dream came true; unfortunately, we lost.

The Red Wings got hammered by an Anaheim Ducks team that is on a roll right now. Detroit is missing key players at every posistion, and Anaheim managed to take advantage en route to a 5-2 win.
