Aaron Rodgers wasn’t cleared to play football on Wednesday, but the Packers still had him practice, and they’ll make a decision on Friday in regard to his status.

In the meantime, Matt Flynn has been getting the starters reps, though Rodgers has taken reps himself.

So just how have those reps been looking? According to a practice report from Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, the Packers’ star quarterback is looking great:

  • (Rodgers) Rodgers practiced well today. Will have a conversation tomorrow about him. Looked very good at practice. Not cleared to play. I will have an announcement tomorrow. Aaron looked very good in practice today.
  • (Rodgers’ advancement since last week) He looked sharp. He looks better this week. He looks ready to play.

Really, this is the best case scenario for Packers fans, especially after the disappointment of Rodgers not being cleared on Wednesday.

It’s worth nothing that he’s still not medically cleared to play, but McCarthy’s optimism is very telling.

The Packers play the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend and control their own destiny to the playoffs. The NFC North title is still very attainable, and even though Matt Flynn has done a great job spelling Rodgers; there’s no doubting the boost he would bring to this team.

If the Packers can get healthy and make it into the playoffs, they’ll be a very dangerous draw.
