The Cleveland Browns are down two big time players for practice Thursday as they prepare to play the New York Jets on the road. Cornerback Joe Haden is suffering from a hip pointer he suffered against the Chicago Bears this past Sunday while Jordan Cameron reported concussion-like symptoms on Monday and is in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
After a 3-2 start, the Browns have only won one game of their past eight. They have been extremely competitive but lost a number of games late, including the New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars which were almost last second losses. If they are down Haden and Cameron, that is a tough streak to break.
Haden has said he will only play if he believes he can help the team. Given that he is not practicing today, that is looking like it will not be this week. Cameron is a little more serious and the question facing the Browns is not just about playing this week, but if they may want to go ahead and shut him down for next week too. That could end up being the case for Haden as well, but there seems to be a little more optimism on that front.
