The horror genre is about to get just a little bit weirder. The people at Open Road Films have secured a release date for the upcoming horror adventure entitled The Green Inferno.
The Green Inferno follows the story of a group of student activists that travel all the way from New York City to the Amazon in an effort to save a dying tribe. Unfortunately for them, they crash in the jungle and are eventually taken hostage by the very natives that they sought to protect.
I don’t know about you, but as much as I want to save the world, I can’t tell you that I would voluntarily fly halfway around the world in an effort to save a tribe of cannibals. That is generally a way to end up like a bad episode of The Walking Dead. Now, nobody wants that, do they?
The film is being directed by Cabin Fever and Hostel director Eli Roth. Roth also co-write the script with screenwriters Guillermo Amoedo and Nicolás López. The three of them have worked together in the past. The three of them all co-wrote the script to the film Aftershock.
Nicolás López is currently working on a sequel to the film.
The Green Inferno stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Spy Kids actor Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, and more,
The Green Inferno is scheduled to be released on September 5, 2014.
