On Wednesday night, the two best teams in the Eastern Conference went head-to-head in one of the best games we’ve seen this season.
Things went down to the final possession between the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers, a game which concluded on a missed shot from Paul George. It wasn’t just a routine clanker though as George, who elevated for the three-point jumper had LeBron James wrapped around him. Literally.
As the final seconds ticked off the clock and George fired off the potential game-tying answer, James had his hands wrapped around George – an obvious foul by definition. But no foul was called, leading to George mouthing some not so family friendly words towards the referees and their lack of a call:
By no stretch was it a mauling but James clearly fouled George. Granted, for some reason referees often decide to swallow their whistles towards the end of a game, often resulting in fouls becoming non-fouls but the Pacers forward certainly had reason to be upset.
As if James needed any extra help to be an elite defender.
