Stanford at UConn final score: Cardinals beat Huskies 53-51

The Stanford Cardinals defeated the UConn Huskies 53-51 at the XL Center in Hartford, CT.  The Cardinals improved to 8-2, and the Huskies fell to 9-1.

UConn led 38-28 at halftime, but only scored 13 points in the second half to lose by two points.

The game included seven lead changes during the final 10:54.  The eventual dagger was a Chasson Randle layup that put Stanford up 52-49 with 3:35 to go.

UConn had plenty of opportunities to go ahead after DeAndre Daniels made a tip shot to bring the Huskies within one point at 2:16.  However, the last four shot attempts by the Huskies did not go down, and the Cardinals won 53-51.

Stanford top performers:  Chasson Randle scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two assists.  Josh Huestis netted 13 points and grabbed ten boards.  Dwight Powell finished with ten points and 15 rebounds.

Connecticut top performers: DeAndre Daniels scored 15 points, collected five rebounds, and blocked four shots.  Shabazz Napier netted 12 points and dropped eight dimes along with five boards.  Lasan Kromah finished with seven points and five rebounds.

Next game: Stanford plays Michigan on Saturday at 8:30 pm ET.  UConn plays at Washington on Sunday at 3:30 pm ET.
