As we the trade winds begin to blow more and more rumors around the NBA world, you are hearing plenty of interest in Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng. However, while there is plenty of interest in acquiring Deng from the Bulls, Chicago doesn’t appear to have any plans of moving him.
From ESPN‘s Brian Windhorst:
Despite being mired in a season that has been derailed by injuries, the Chicago Bulls are determined not to trade impending free-agent forward Luol Deng, sources told ESPN.com.
Teams are inquiring about Deng’s status with the Bulls, who continue to sink in the standings in the wake of the knee injury that wrecked another season for Derrick Rose.
Deng, who has spent his entire NBA career with the Bulls, is set to become a free agent in the offseason.
It wouldn’t be a bad move for the team to get something in exchange for Deng while they can, but by hanging on to Deng for the remainder of the season could build some loyalty that may eventually make contract discussions easier once he hits the open market.
