The Philadelphia 76ers started off the season 3-0, which immediately made NBA fans think that the team could be looking to be competitive this season. Of course, the 76ers are just 4-19 since their hot start and now everyone is beginning to notice that the team appears to be tanking for a high lottery pick in 2014.
For forward Thaddeus Young, the tanking plans aren’t something that he wants to be a part of so he has officially asked the team for a trade.
Young and his agent, Jim Tanner, submitted a formal trade request to Hinkie and the Sixers weeks ago, according to a source close to Young.
“Thad is ready to leave Philly,” the source said. “He isn’t with the whole tanking thing.”
It’s not surprising that Young doesn’t want to be a part of a tanking franchise, especially with two years remaining on his deal.
If Philadelphia can get something in exchange for the veteran, they could seek a draft pick from a potential trade partner and stock pile their picks as they put their rebuilding plans in full motion.
