Every so often, we as a society are gifted with a song that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever but it’s catchy as hell and we just can’t stop singing it. In the late 90s it was the ‘Macarena’, last year is was ‘Gangnam Style’ and this year it’s Ylvis with ‘What Does the Fox Say?’. Naturally, we have seen a slew of spinoff parodies to the song from SNL to others and now the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies produced a parody video that replaces the animals and the fox in the Ylvis song with mascots and the Phillie Phanatic. The result is magical awesomeness that will likely not leave your head all weekend long.

We can call it an early Christmas present from Major League Baseball as the video is pretty typical of a parody to a popular song. If we have to endure parodies of the song that force us to continue to listen to it, at least this one isn’t that bad.

The video will likely not be relevant at all in six months when we forget the Ylvis song even existed, but for the time being, it’s a clever spin on the song that does beg a pretty legitimate question — what does the Phanatic say?
