Top defensive tackle prospect Matt Elam down to Alabama and Kentucky, plans to announce on Jan. 4

After a lengthy courtship from nearly every school in the country, five-star defensive tackle prospect Matt Elam out of Elizabethtown, Kentucky has reportedly narrowed his choices down to two, and he also plans on announcing his final decision on January 4th at the U.S. Army All American Bowl, according to 247 Sports.

Elam’s two possible choices could not be on more opposite ends of the spectrum neither. In 2014, the 6-6, 350-pounder will either choose the vaunted Alabama Crimson Tide, or he will choose to stay in his home state and try to help Mark Stoops rebuild the Kentucky Wildcats program.

“My Final Two College Choices Alabama And UK !! Hats Will Be On The Table !! Which One Will I Choose ?? #BBN #Bama,” Elam tweeted on Thursday evening.

According to 247, Elam is the number seven overall prospect in the country and the number two defensive tackle. If anything, this is one of the more exciting decisions to watch play out because of the difference between the schools. He can either join the juggernaut that is Nick Saban’s Tide squad, or he could be eventually remembered as a pivotal piece in turning Kentucky into an SEC contender.

We’ll find out just after the new year.
