The NBA has teamed up with comedian Kevin Hart and rapper/actor Ice Cube to promote the NBA’s Christmas special (and their upcoming film Ride Along), running a series of advertisements the past few days. Today we get the extended version of those commercials, which includes Hart remaking Skee-Lo’s one hit wonder, ‘I Wish’.

Released in 1995, ‘I Wish’ instantly shot up the Billboard charts, peaking at number thirteen and was nominated for Best Rap Song at the 1996 Grammy Awards (though eventually lost to Coolio’s ‘Gangasta’s Paradise’).

Despite being somewhat tacky and very popcorn in nature, ‘I Wish’ became a cult hit and given Hart’s similar problems (including height), the remake was a perfect pairing.

In addition to Hart and Ice Cube, the video is peppered with cameos from NBA players including Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Andre Iguodala and Kobe Bryant.

For those who don’t remember the original track, here it is in all its glory:

Pretty good job all around, including Paul and Carmelo.

Topics: Andre Iguodala, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Golden State Warriors, Kevin Hart, Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, NBA, New York Knicks
