So far in the Las Vegas Bowl today, Derek Carr and the Fresno State Bulldogs are struggling against their opponents, the USC Trojans. They’ve fallen behind early, 14-6, and are looking to get into one of those rhythms that we’ve seen from them all year that made them such a formidable force offensively.
Part of the reason that they haven’t been able to get much going is the fact that this talented USC defensive front has been able to get some good pressure on the top-level signal caller. That’s the way you want to stop every good QB, you put him on the ground.
In the first quarter, USC did just that.
After Carr got off a pass, he took a heck of a shot from a USC defensive lineman that sent him back for what seemed like 10 yards or so. It also have Carr reeling on the ground as he grasped his shoulder in a bit of pain:
