MLB Free Agency: Texas Rangers may not be players for Masahiro Tanaka

News broke earlier today that the Texas Rangers and free agent outfielder Shin-Soo Choo were able to agree to terms on a seven year contract.

It was a huge signing by the Texas Rangers, which now points at Nelson Cruz not returning to the organization. Not only will Cruz not be returning to the Texas Rangers, but the team could have removed themselves from the group of teams who will attempt to sign Masahiro Tanaka.

That’s according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports. Now with the Rangers out of the hunt for Tanaka, the thought of Masahiro and Yu Darvish going up against one another gives me goosebumps.

Both are amazing Japanese right handed pitchers, but Tanaka needs to be posted first before we can see that match up. The 25 year old’s $20 million posting fee has been approved, but the Rakuten Golden Eagles are still trying to figure out what they will be doing.

In my opinion, they should just post Tanaka instead of letting him walk away with the franchise being left empty handed.
