Nets' Brook Lopez out for year with broken foot

Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez has broken his foot and is done for the 2013-14 season. It is the fourth time in three years that Brook Lopez has broken his foot.

Gary Tanguay of Comcast Sports New England broke the news.

ESPN New York has confirmed the report:

The Brooklyn Nets disappointing start to the season has hit a low point with the loss of All-Star center Brook Lopez for the season to a broken foot, a league source confirmed.

The 7-foot center is thought to have suffered the break sometime in the second half, possibly in the third quarter, during the Nets’ overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, a league source said.

According to ESPN New York, the injury is in his surgically-repaired right foot that he fractured in 2011 and later had a screw replaced in. For the Nets that means Kevin Garnett starting and an increase in playing time for Andray Blatche.

Lopez was averaging 20.7 points and six rebounds this season.
