Pau Gasol out against Warriors on Saturday

Now that Kobe Bryant is out for six weeks, the Lakers will be relying on Pau Gasol to run the offense. He may not bring the ball up, but he is very good initiating offense from the elbow in HORNS sets, and it showed Friday night. Gasol had 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists in a big win over Minnesota.

Now, the Lakers will take a big hit, as Gasol will miss Saturday night’s game against the Warriors with an upper respiratory infection, according to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com. This is obviously a huge hit, but if the Lakers can get hot like they did on Friday, then they have a chance.

Chris Kaman is out of the doghouse, and in to the starting lineup. He will have his chance to prove that he deserves a spot in this rotation, and we will see how that plays out. The Lakers will miss Gasol, especially his three-point shooting:

Get well soon, Pau. The Lakers need you now more than ever.
