Tight end Drew Sample switches commitment from Boise State to Washington

Newport High School tight end Drew Sample, who originally gave a verbal commitment to the Boise State Broncos, has switched his commitment to the Washington Huskies.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound Sample, considered a three-star prospect, spoke with Scout‘s Dawgman.com about his decision:

From the start it was a school that I was disappointed in never getting an offer from and so we decided that in the end it’s the best spot for me and I agree with that. I’m definitely excited to be up in the home town and playing in front of all the people that are huge Husky fans. It’s definitely exciting.

Since I got the offer from coach Pete I continued to stay in touch with him and coach (Jonathan) Smith and I was talking with them about Washington and what a great opportunity that would be for me – especially being from Washington and growing up around here. I just kept talking with my family about this great opportunity – and not just in football but academically. Obviously it’s a great school. It’ll set me up for life.

Sample is the second recruit to switch from Boise State to Washington. Jalen Greene, a quarterback, did the same thing earlier in the week.
