Closer Grant Balfour says at least four teams interested, has offer on table

It’s been a rough few weeks for former Oakland Athletics closer, Grant Balfour.

The volatile fireman engaged himself in deep contract talks with the Baltimore Orioles, taking a tough stance in his demands, refusing to budge. His hard-nosed negotiating tactics eventually forced the Orioles to cave to his demands and the two sides appeared set on a contract.

All that was needed was for Balfour to pass his physical and the marriage would be set. But shockingly, the Orioles claimed Balfour failed the physical which voided the would-be contract, leaving the closer without a team.

That apparently won’t be the cast for long though as at least four teams are reportedly interested in the veteran and he apparently already has another offer on the table:

Multiple teams are still in need of a closer like the Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees so Balfour should have no problem finding a lucrative deal as he remains one of the top closers available in the free agent pool.
