Hockey referee wears helmet cam (Video)

AHL referee David Banfield wore a helmet cam for the December 7th game between Rockford IceHogs and Charlotte Checkers. It is an interesting video that is a bit long.

It covers everything from him talking to officials and normal game play. Referees trying to break up fights and discussing penalties with players. Interesting to hear him discuss penalties and get feedback from the players.

Other players plead their cases and express their disbelief at certain penalties.

From the about section on YouTube:

AHL referee David Banfield wears a GoPro helmet cam, giving an up close and personal look at what happens on the ice during a game. The video was shot during the annual Teddy Bear Toss game on Dec. 7, 2013, with the help of microphones on both Banfield and linesman Paul Carnathan, and was produced by the Checkers.

Special thanks to David Banfield, Paul Carnathan, the Rockford IceHogs and AHL Hockey Operations for helping with this project, the first ever regular season helmet cam video.
