In what may have been the upset of the year in college football this season, Georgia Southern of the FCS went into the Swamp in Gainseville and took down the Florida Gators of the SEC, and they did so with barely throwing a pass using head coach Jeff Monken’s system.

Well, that performance, coupled with Monken’s ability to perfect a run-based offense seems to have landed him a job at the FBS level.

According to Sal Interdonato, the Army beat writer for the Times Herald-Record, Monken is expected to be named the next head coach of the Army Black Knights. An announcement should be made later this week once contract details are finalized:

Monken has been the head coach at Georgia Southern for the past four seasons and has taken the program to the FCS playoffs three times in that span.
