As the 2013-2014 bowl season moves along, we’re getting one step closer to the impending BCS National Championship Game showdown between the Auburn Tigers and the top-ranked Florida State Seminoles inside the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Jan. 6.

While Florida State has dominated their way to the title game, Auburn has utilized a little bit of luck to claim their current number two slot in the BCS standings.

First, there was the miracle catch in Jordan-Hare Stadium by Auburn receiver Ricardo Louis against the Georgia Bulldogs as time was running out in the game.

That catch set up an incredible Iron Bowl showdown between Auburn and the Alabama Crimson Tide, again in Jordan-Hare, for the SEC West championship.

Again, the football gods were watching over Gus Malzahn’s team.

In that one, defensive back Chris Davis returned a missed ‘Bama field goal 100 yards for the game-winning score as time ran out in regulation. That win vaulted Auburn to the SEC Championship Game, which they would win, and then ultimately place them in the title game, with a little help from Michigan State beating Ohio State.

Yes, no matter what happens, Chris Davis and Ricardo Louis will be remembered in college football history forever. To add to their fame, they are the two men that are gracing the cover of this week’s national Sports Illustrated cover:
