Brooks Laich has a long climb ahead of him if he hopes to return to his 40-to-50 point form. He’s missed nearly a month with a groin issue, and was sidelined last year for all but nine contests with the same ailment. He’ll return to the lineup tonight when the Washington Capitals take on the Anaheim Ducks at the Verizon Center.
Oates confirms Brooks Laich will be back in the #Caps lineup tonight against the Ducks. Will start on fourth line.

The 30-year-old forward scored in his last contest on November 27, but only has three other tallies on the year. He has six points through 25 games this season and has been so-so in the faceoff circle. It isn’t surprising then that head coach Adam Oates will ease Laich back into the lineup against one of the best teams in the NHL in the Anaheim Ducks.
Washington has dropped three of its last five games and is looking to head into the NHL’s holiday break with a big win over an outstanding squad. Anaheim has won eight consecutive games, and is getting big time contributions from Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.
Laich isn’t likely to see many shifts against that top line though.
