Five-star RB Joe Mixon narrows his list down to three schools

Five-star rated running back Joe Mixon out of Oakley, CA narrowed his list of potential destinations down the three on Saturday as National Signing Day rapidly approaches.

The 6-2, 195-pound all-purpose threat began with about 50 scholarship offers, but has cut through most of them to finally come down to either the Wisconsin Badgers, UCLA Bruins or Oklahoma Sooners. Most recently, he’s thrown out the Cal Golden Bears, USC Trojans and Florida State Seminoles from his list.

Mixon is the number one-rated all-purpose back according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He still has yet to take an official visit to UCLA, but he has been on the campus a few times, which might be enough in the end knowing Jim Mora’s excellent recruiting pitches.

The third-rated prospect in the state of California brings just about everything to the table that you’d want in an athlete such as him. One of the only knocks has been his speed, which still has time to develop between now and the time he steps foot on campus of his new home.
