Looking to fix their struggling offense, the Florida Gators will reportedly meet with Duke Blue Devils offensive coordinator Kurt Roper about their open OC position.
Roper joined the Duke staff back in 2008 and has been one of the masterminds, along with head coach David Cutcliffe, of one of the best turnarounds in recent memory. After a stellar year in 2012, the Blue Devils finished this past season as the ACC Coastal Division Champions, and made an appearance in the ACC title game against Florida State.
The coach has an extensive history with working with and developing quarterbacks, having worked under both Cutcliffe and Rich Brooks at Kentucky. Recently at Duke, not only did he have a hand in making Sean Renfree one of the best quarterbacks in the ACC, he may have done his best job in developing this year’s QB, Anthony Boone.
While he might not be the biggest name out there at the moment, this might be the right hire for the Gators, who desperately need a complete overhaul of their offensive unit.
