There was some interesting news on Sunday morning about the New York Jets and head coach Rex Ryan. Apparently during a meeting on Saturday night, Ryan reportedly told his players that he will be fired after the season and that these will be his final two weeks.

“[Ryan] said ‘guys I got two weeks left here. You guys ride with me, roll with me here and we will see what happens over the next two weeks,” NFL insider Jay Glazer said on the FOX NFL pre-game show.

Could have been just a motivational method on Ryan’s part to get some inspired play of out his team. Now he is backing off those comments.

“I know I have a contract for next year,” Ryan said, via ESPNNewYork.com. “What I do know, guys, is that I’m coaching this team. I’ve said this all season long: My job is to focus on the present and what’s right now.”

The Jets did get a 24-13 win over the Cleveland Browns, so if it was purely motivational it worked.
