Lakers' Pau Gasol will play Monday night

After sitting out of the Los Angeles Lakers’ 102-83 loss to the Golden State Warriors Saturday night, Pau Gasol will be back in the lineup when the Lakers take on the Phoenix Suns Monday night.

Lakers’ head coach Mike D’Antoni informed reporters of Gasol’s availability during the team’s shootaround Monday.

The Lakers lost 102-83 to the Golden State Warriors without Gasol on Saturday. It was the first game Gasol missed all season. He is averaging 15.0 points and 9.4 rebounds on the season on 44.8 percent shooting, but had been on an uptick as of late. In his last six games, Gasol has averaged 17.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.7 blocks while shooting 58.7 percent (44-for-75) from the field.

D’Antoni said Gasol would not have any minute restrictions against the Suns. Gasol participated in shootaround but did not speak to reporters.

The Lakers obviously need Gasol if they plan to make any kind of run at the postseason this year.

The Lakers and Suns will tip-off at 9:00 pm EST.
