NBA rumors: Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets still working on Omer Asik trade

Although the Houston Rockets didn’t move center Omer Asik by the date they had set, they’re still in negotiations to trade the big man – this according to Yahoo Sports’ Marc J. Spears.

It wasn’t anything more than a quick blurb in Spears’ most recent power rankings, but it shouldn’t be overlooked:

The Rockets let their self-imposed deadline to trade center Omer Asik pass, but Boston is still having trade discussions in hopes of landing him, a source said.

The Rockets have been doing everything they can to move Asik, reportedly attempting to send him to the Brooklyn Nets (along with Jeremy Lin) in exchange for Deron Williams – a trade that the Nets understandably declined.

Boston meanwhile has been eying Asik for some time, though isn’t willing to pay such an elevated price for a relatively one dimensional player who struggles on the offensive end.

It’s clear the Celtics would like Asik in green and white but it might not happen until the Rockets lower their demands.

I really don’t think Asik is that good. I don’t know why people are calling him a top center in the leuge. He can rebound not even at that high of level and dunk if noone is around him. I also think that contract went to his head and now he also believes his an all star.
