Joe Southwick takes polygraph test to prove innocence

Boise State Broncos quarterback Joe Southwick believes he was unfairly suspended for tonight’s Hawaii Bowl against the Oregon State Beavers, and he’s willing to go to extremes to prove his innocence. Accused of urinating off a hotel balcony, Southwick said he took a polygraph test upon arriving back in Boise to clear his name.

Per the Associated Press:

It’s really important for myself and my family to get this cleared up. There was no process to properly adjudicate what happened. It’s really disappointing that it had to come to this.

Really, [the results of the test] gives me a leg to stand on.

However, the school released a statement on Monday saying Southwick deserved his punishment:

We investigated the matter with university administrators, coaching staff, a law enforcement official, hotel security and student-athletes. We made the decision to send the student-athlete home, and we stand by this difficult decision.

The Hawaii Bowl will begin tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
